Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for an Electronics Test Engineer located in Geel, Belgium. As part of the testing and validation team, the Electronics Test Engineer is responsible for ensuring the functionality, reliability, and performance of custom-designed ASICs and electronic systems. You will develop test plans, build test setups and hardware, implement automated test scripts, and conduct hands-on measurements both in the lab and in radiation environments. This role requires close collaboration with ASIC designers and cross-disciplinary engineering teams to troubleshoot issues and support continuous improvement of Magics’ test infrastructure and methodologies. The position is open to both junior and senior profiles, with responsibilities and support scaled accordingly.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the ASIC design team to understand specifications and functionalities of the in-house developed ASICs.
- Develop comprehensive test plans and strategies for testing of in-house developed ASICs, both on the block level and system level performance.
- Design and develop test hardware, including test boards (PCBs).
- Develop and implement Python test automation scripts and tools to streamline the testing process of ASICs using industry-standard tools.
- Conduct bring-up, functional, performance, and reliability testing of ASICs in the company lab and/or in different kinds of irradiation facilities, and take ownership of these activities.
- Process and analyze measurement data into readable plots via Python.
- Document test procedures, results, and findings.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams like the ASIC team to troubleshoot, resolve issues, and indicate areas for improvement.
- Employ and contribute to the upkeep of the testing code framework within the organization.
- Contribute to shaping the future work methodologies by enhancing existing practices within the company.
Your Profile
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Preferably proven experience in system-level testing, preferably with ASIC-based systems.
- Preferably proven experience in ASIC testing, including test plan development, test hardware/software design, and test execution.
- Strong understanding of ASIC architecture, design, and verification methodologies.
- Basic knowledge about lab measurement equipment (Source meters, Multimeters, Oscilloscopes, Function generators, Spectrum analyzers, Logic analyzers, etc…)
- Experience with test automation frameworks and tools is advantageous.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C, Python.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a hands-on mentality.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with industry standards and protocols (e.g., Ethernet, SCPI, RS232, Biss, SPI, I2C).
- Experience with FPGA prototyping and emulation (Verilog, VHDL, Vivado).
- Knowledge of DFT (Design for Testability) techniques.
- Familiarity with ATE (Automated Test Equipment) platforms.
- Experience with CAD programs (Fusion 360 or similar)
- Experience with PCB design (Altium or similar)
- Experience with STMicrocontrollers
- Experience with circuit simulation (LTSPICE or similar)
- Basic knowledge of MS Office
