Magics Technologies announces the release of the MAG PLL00002, a radiation-tolerant clock generator and distributor designed for reliable operation in demanding environments such as space and nuclear systems.

The device supports stable clock generation and synchronization across subsystems, addressing applications where timing integrity and system coordination are critical.

Overview

The MAG PLL00002 is based on a phase-locked loop (PLL) architecture, enabling controlled frequency synthesis and distribution from a reference signal.

Key characteristics include:

  • Radiation-tolerant design up to 100 krad (1 kGy) TID, with mitigation for single event effects
  • Multiple synchronized outputs for system-level clock distribution
  • Standard SPI interface for configuration and monitoring
  • Compact hermetic packaging suitable for high-reliability integration
  • ITAR-free compliance for international use

The device is designed to integrate into existing system architectures with minimal overhead, focusing on predictable performance and ease of use rather than architectural novelty.

Market Context

Clock generation is a well-established function, with many available solutions across the semiconductor industry. However, in high-reliability environments, the challenge shifts from performance alone to long-term stability, radiation tolerance, and integration risk.

In space applications, engineers must ensure that timing signals remain consistent over mission lifetime, despite exposure to radiation and limited access for maintenance. This places constraints not only on the device itself, but also on how easily it can be integrated and validated within a system.

The MAG PLL00002 addresses these requirements by providing a robust, system-ready solution, reducing the need for additional mitigation at the board or system level.

Availability

The MAG PLL00002 is currently available in Engineering Model (EM), with Evaluation Kit (EVK) and Engineering Qualification Model (EQM) also available to support development and validation. The Flight Model (FM) is scheduled for Q1 2027.
