Magics will participate in MEWS 2026 (Microelectronics and Electronic Components Workshop), taking place in Tsukuba, Japan, 22–23 October 2026.

During the workshop, Hagen Marien, COO of Magics, will present the paper "Radiation-Hardened Precision Timing as the Enabling Layer for On-Board AI, COTS FPGAs, and High-Speed Space Payloads."

The event brings together researchers and engineers working on advanced microelectronics and electronic systems for space applications, providing a forum to discuss technologies that enable the next generation of spacecraft.

Precision timing for modern spacecraft

As satellite architectures continue to evolve, onboard AI, high-speed SerDes links, LiDAR, GNSS, and Earth observation payloads all rely on extremely accurate and reliable timing.

The presentation demonstrates how Magics' Time Series, developed using a radiation-hard-by-design methodology in standard CMOS, provides the precision and radiation robustness required for these demanding applications while simplifying system architectures.

Two key products will be featured:

  • MAG-TDC00002, an ultra-high-precision Time-to-Digital Converter delivering better than 8 ps single-shot precision, designed for applications including LiDAR, autonomous rendezvous and docking, quantum communications, and space weather instrumentation.
  • MAG-PLL00002, a fully integrated digital Phase-Locked Loop providing low-jitter clock generation and distribution for high-speed space electronics, AI accelerators, COTS FPGA platforms, and advanced payload architectures.

Together, these devices enable reliable synchronization and timing across modern spacecraft while eliminating the need for dedicated radiation-hardened manufacturing processes.

Meet our distributor at Booth 27

Visitors can also meet our Japanese distributor NASAM at Booth 27, where the Magics space portfolio will be presented.

Whether you are developing next-generation satellite platforms, AI-enabled payloads, high-speed communications, or precision sensing systems, we'd be pleased to discuss how our space-grade CMOS timing solutions can support your mission.
